Relativism

« Back to Glossary Index

An attitude of scepticism toward the possibility of any ‘story’ – e.g. the Christian Creed – being ‘objectively’ true, to be accepted eventually by all. For the strict relativist there can be no such thing as ‘objective’ truth, since ‘knowing’ is always ‘subjective’ – dependent upon the varying viewpoint of the individual.
